Jenny - Certified Optician, Dubuque
Jenny has 25 years of experience in the optical field and has been certified by the American Board of Opticianary since 1998. She joined the Vision Health Center team after relocating from Iowa City to her hometown of Dubuque. Jenny's extensive knowledge of frame designs and understanding of spectacle lens technology provides our patients with the best combination of frames and lenses to fit their individual needs. She is always looking for new pieces to add to the office and to her own collection of eccentric eyewear.
In October of 2009 I was helping a patient pick out a new pair of glasses. We chose a few frames and sat down to try them on. I told him the first frame he was trying on, a retro-styled plastic frame, was one of my favorites. Unfortunately, they did not fit him. I joked “I love this frame. Someday, someone is going to get this frame and I will have to marry him.” He smiled and joked back “Then I guess I’ll have to get that one.” After trying on about a dozen more frames, he ended up with a similar retro-styled frame that I liked almost as much. When I asked him what phone number I should call when his glasses were ready, he gave me his cell phone number. Then he asked me what phone number he should call to ask me for dinner. He wore that frame two years later when we stood at the altar and said “I do”. Three pairs of glasses later we welcomed our first child, Vivian.
